The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 of 34

The Book of Deuteronomy
 Chapter  3

¹ When we headed up the road to Bashan, King Og of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, for battle at Edrei.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 1)

Oh God my beloved Father, You are my champion, You lead me straight ahead towards my enemy, or persecutor without fear or doubt. I thank You for the encouragement that You give me against those who try to persecute me Amen.

² The LORD said to me, "Do not fear him, for I have handed him over to you, along with his people and his land. Do to him as you did to King Sihon of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon."

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 2)

Oh Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ our Lord Champion and Father. Do not be afraid of adversaries in life, for God is fighting our battles for us as he has been during the course of our life. Without our being aware God fights our enemies and claims one victory over another on our behalf, always for our good. I pray that we do not abuse of Your defence and ask help in order to harm others because God would surely not be in our line of defence or attack Amen.

³ So the LORD our God also handed over to us King Og of Bashan and all his people. We struck him down until not a single survivor was left.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 3)

Oh God, my beloved Father, when I am on Your side, nothing can stand against me, regardless if it is human or spiritual. You are a mighty force Amen. Thank You Jesus Amen.

⁴ At that time we captured all his towns; there was no citadel that we did not take from them-sixty towns, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 4)

Oh God, my blessed Father, there is nobody like You. When You manifest Your power there is no force natural or supernatural that may stand against You. With You on my side, I have the victory over all my enemies including myself Amen. Thank You, Jesus.

⁵ All these were fortress towns with high walls, double gates, and bars, besides a great many villages.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 5)

Oh God, my Father, the greater the challenge the more You manifest Your glory and power, for no difficulty that we experience can ever be too much for You. You are able to break down the high walls of our problems and even throw open the gates in order to make the seemingly impossible be made possible Amen. I offer You all my current issues my God and Father for only You are my support Amen.

⁶ And we utterly destroyed them, as we had done to King Sihon of Heshbon, in each city utterly destroying men, women, and children. ⁷ But all the livestock and the plunder of the towns we kept as spoil for ourselves,

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verses 6 to7)

Oh God, I pray that You give me the power and strength to destroy all evil spirits that I may encounter may they be fully grown or even small demons. May I also grow in Your graces every time as a reward Amen. Thank You, Jesus.

⁸ So at that time we took from the two kings of the Amorites the land beyond the Jordan, from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon ⁹ (the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, while the Amorites call it Senir), ¹⁰ all the towns of the tableland, the whole of Gilead, and all of Bashan, as far as Salecah and Edrei, towns of Og's kingdom in Bashan. ¹¹(Now only King Og of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. In fact his bed, an iron bed, can still be seen in Rabbah of the Ammonites. By the common cubit it is nine cubits long and four cubits wide.)

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verses 8 to11)

Oh God my blessed Father, I pray that we continue to celebrate many conversions of people who previously either converted from other religions or maybe had no religion at all. These are all conquests from the possession of the reign of darkness Amen.

¹² As for the land that we took possession of at that time, I gave to the Reubenites and Gadites the territory north of Aroer, that is on the edge of the Wadi Arnon, as well as half the hill country of Gilead with its towns, ¹³ and I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh the rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, Og's kingdom, (The whole region of Argob; all that portion of Bashan used to be called a land of Rephaim; ¹⁴ Jair the Manassite acquired the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and he named them that is, Bashan-after himself, Havvoth-jair as it is to the day.)

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verses 12 to 14)

Oh God my Father, what joy we experience in giving, however, this is not the same when someone steals from us, because the feeling left in us is not that positive. When reflecting on Your generosity, I am always left speechless, because You never stop caring and catering for our needs Amen. Thank You Jesus Amen.

¹⁵ To Machir I gave Gilead. ¹⁶ And to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Wadi Arnon, with the middle of the wadi as a boundary, and up to the Jabbok, the wadi being boundary of the Ammonites; ¹⁷ the Arabah also, with the Jordan and its banks, from Chinnereth down to the sea of the Arabah, the Dead Sea with the lower slopes of Pisgah on the east.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verses 15 to 17)

Oh God my Father, what You gave truly and honestly to Your people, however, the world dispossessed us of what You gave us the most important thing which is our faith in You. You are fair in the way You provide for us each day of our lives. I thank You for being so loving caring and generous towards myself and to humanity at large amen. Thank You Jesus.

¹⁸ At that time, I charged you as follows; "Although the LORD your God has given you this land to occupy, all your troops shall cross over armed as the vanguard of your Israelite kin.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 18)

Oh God, my Father, although You provide us with the essential needs and even more, You do not wish that we settled down in a routine or pattern because when doing so we risk forgetting the works that You are doing in our life. Moreover, Your desire is that we continue to grow in Your relationship with us by keeping on in our march towards the gates of Heaven Amen. Therefore let us never look back but keep on marching ahead Amen!

¹⁹ Only your wives, your children, and your livestock-I know that you have much livestock-shall stay behind in the towns that I have given to you.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 19)

Oh God, my Father, You know that we place much value in our belongings and possessions, however, such things keep us tied to the world. I thank You for making me meet asylum seekers who leave their hometowns with a toothbrush and the clothes that they are wearing. Amen. I pray that You free me from such worldly possessions and the tie to them Amen. I pray to depend on You for my well-being Amen.

²⁰ When the LORD gives rest to your kindred, as to you, and they too have occupied the land that the LORD your God is giving them beyond the Jordan, then each of you may return to the property that I have given to you."

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 20)

Oh God my Father, You have sent me from heaven and to their I will return if You consider me being worthy of doing so. There is my promised land and not the world Amen. Thank You Jesus.

²¹ And I charged Joshua as well at that time, saying: "Your own eyes have seen everything that the LORD your God has done to these two kings; so the LORD will do to all the kingdoms into which you are about to cross. ²² Do not fear them, for it is the LORD your God who fights for you."

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 21 to 22)

Oh God my Father, as You did in the past You will do in the present and in the future. You have always stood up for me in the face of my enemies and You have always made me victor over them. I can testify regarding one victory over another. Thank You Jesus Amen.

²³ At that time, too, I entreated the LORD, saying; ²⁴ "O Lord GOD, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your might; what god in heaven or on earth can perform deeds and mighty acts like yours!

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 23 to 24)

Many times oh God my Father, when we need something from somebody we give alot of praise and highlight that person better and then we include our requests. This is the tactic that we use among humans, however, this does not work with You for You know both our hearts and minds Amen.

²⁵ Let me cross over to see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and the Lebanon." ²⁶ But the LORD was angry with me on your account and would not heed me. The LORD said to me, "Enough from you! Never speak to me of this matter again!

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 25 to 26)

Oh God, Your ways are just and You had perfect reasons for not letting Moses enter the Promised Land for doubt in You and Your ways is the grievest of sins, especially when considering all the signs and wonders that Moses had witnessed throughout those fourty years of venturing in the desert and also the signs in Egypt.

On reflecting throughout my life You have also shown me many signs, but I was not always receptive and aware to understand them. I thank You for all that You have done for with and by me throughout this lifetime Amen.

²⁷ Go up to the top of Pisgah and look around you to the west, to the north, to the south, and to the east. Look well for you shall not cross over this Jordan.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verse 27)

Oh God, my Father there are opportunities in life that You have saved for our next of kin to benefit from situations of which we also could have benefitted but this was not to be. Your will and Your plans are different from ours for You see the big picture and we see a partial view of reality Amen.

²⁸ But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, because it is he who shall cross over at the head of this people and who shall secure their possession of the land that you will see." ²⁹ So we remained in the valley opposite Beth-peor.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 3 verses 28 to 29)

Oh God, my Father, Moses was about to pay the price for his disobedience. You had told him to knock two times on the rock from which water was to flow for the people and he knocked three times with his staff. Furthermore, he claimed to be the one who was giving them the water. God bless Your justice oh God my Father, even if the consequences were to be as harsh as those of Moses who had been waiting for this day and hour for about fourthy years Amen.

Oh God, my Father. I would like to end this third chapter of the book of Deuteronomy with the following prayer:-

Throughout my life oh God my Father You have permitted me to experience different experiences, of which some were very nice, while others were not that nice. However, I thank You for all these situations for they are all part of Your plan for me and others in the world Amen. So let us rejoice and give thanks to God for He is good and worthy to be praised. Amen.
