The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 of 34 (To update)

The Book of Deuteronomy
 Chapter  4

¹ So now, Israel, give heed to the statutes and ordinances that I am teaching you to observe, so that you may live to enter and occupy the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 1)

Oh God my Father this warning or advice is still valid today, for we still need to obey Your statutes and commandments Amen.

² You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I am charging you.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 2)

Oh God, my Father, I pray that people in the Roman Catholic Church would abide to such a commandment and not make an alteration to the Lord's Prayer. I pray that the Books of the Bible that You gave us remain untouched and in their original form only translated to our language so that we can keep on receiving the message of truth Amen.

³You have seen for yourselves what the LORD did with regard to the Baal of Peor-how the LORD your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of the Peor, ⁴ while those of you who held fast to the LORD your God are all alive today.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God my Father I pray not for the destruction of non-believers but for their salvation. I believe that You even paid the price for their salvation and that in time You will touch their hearts and they will accept salvation Amen.

⁵ See, just as the LORD my God has charged me, I now teach you statutes and ordinances for you to observe in the land that you are about to enter and occupy.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 5)

Oh God my Father I thank You for being my teacher, for all the values and norms that You are teaching me, for this new way of life based on prayer that You are allowing me to live Amen.

⁶ You must observe them diligently, for this will show your wisdom and discernment to the peoples, who when they hear all these statutes, will say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and discerning people!

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 6)

Oh God my Father today we have basically ten commandments and we still grumble that the Catholic Faith is too hard to adhere too so much that some of us have decided to follow other cults and religions Amen. I pray for the strength oh God my Father to remain strong in the Holy Spirit who will keep the flame of faith burning in me Amen.

⁷ For what other great nation has a god so near to it as the LORD our God is whenever we call to him?

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 7)

Oh God my Father, You are so closer to me than my own skin. I have faith that You are always with me even when I do not feel Your presence Amen.

⁸ And what other great nation has statutes and ordinances as just as this entire law that I am setting before you today?

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 8)

Oh God my Father I thank You for the commandments and other rules that You have passed on to the Roman Catholic Church and other churches. I pray that such ordinances are obeyed and not abused like the time of the Political upheaval in Malta between the Church and the State Amen.

⁹ But take care and watch yourselves closely, so as neither to forget the things that your eyes have seen nor to let them slip from your mind all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your children's children- ¹⁰ how you once stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when the LORD said to me,"Assemble the people for me, and I will let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me as long as they live on the earth, and may teach their children so" ¹¹ you approached and stood at the foot of the mountain while the mountain was blazing up to the very heavens, shrouded in dark clouds.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verses 9 to 11)

Oh God my Father by means of Blogspot and Facebook and by means of my workplace, You have given me many sons and daughters with whom I can share my faith. I pray that You keep on giving me the strength and opportunity to share this blog Amen.

¹² Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form; there was only a voice.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 12)

Oh God my Father I feel happy to say that when You called me I not only heard the strong authoritative voice but I also saw the loving face Amen.

¹³ He declared to you his covenant, which he charged you to observe, that is, the ten commandments, and he wrote them on two stone tablets.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 13)

Oh God my Father I thank You for writing Your Word the Bible in my heart and in my mind. Where ever I go I hear the echo of Your Word. Give me the courage to proclaim it both in public and in private Amen.

¹⁴ And the LORD charged me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances for you to observe in the land that you are about to cross into and occupy.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 14)

Oh God my Father before allowing us to move from one stage in life to another You allow us to the experience of a period of trial and tribulation that brings us close to You by means of a period of focus on ourselves and our reality at the time. I thank You for having encouraged me to make the necessary decisions in order to move on to a new life Amen.

¹⁵ Since you saw no form when the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire, take care and watch yourselves closely, ¹⁶ so that you do not act corruptly by making an idol for yourselves, in the form of any figure-the likeness of male or female, ¹⁷ the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, ¹⁸ the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verses 15 to 18)

Oh God, my Father, we have a habit of falling into this trap. We have made statues of You and of the saints and have given them worship instead of having given worship to You Amen. I pray that You heal us from this negative practice Amen.

¹⁹ And when you look up to the heavens and see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, do not be led astray and bow down to them and serve them, things that the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples everywhere under heaven.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 19)

Oh brothers and sisters let us keep our focus on the creator more than on the created, for God is in control of every detail of our life. I pray that we make good use of creation but do not give it more value than we are to Amen.

²⁰ But the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron-smeller, out of Egypt, to become a people of his very own possession, as you are now.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 20)

Oh God my Father I thank You for claiming me as Your very own. I thank You for delivering me out of serious situations both in the past and in the present Amen. I thank You for being always close to me Amen.

²¹ The LORD was angry with me because of you, and he vowed that I should not cross the Jordan and that I should not enter the good land that the LORD your God is giving for your possession. ²² For I am going to die in this land without crossing over the Jordan, but you are going to cross over to take possession of that good land.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verses 21 to 22)

Oh God my Father even though You had made Moses aware of his error when he hit the rock three times instead of twice the rock that you allowed to give water to the people, Moses kept on blaming the people for the outcome. I pray for all of us who are still in denial for some reason or other to come to terms with reality and accept their own faults in particular situations Amen even though this might be a painful process. Open Your hearts to God repent and you will receive God's healing grace Amen!

²³ So be careful not to forget the covenant that the LORD your God made with you, and not to make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything that the LORD your God has forbidden you.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 23)

Oh God my Father if there is a sin that greatly displeases You is that of another god or idol that tries to take Your place. You wish to be the one and only God in our life. We are precious for You and You are precious for us, even though as humans we do not all admit this Amen.

²⁴ For the LORD your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 24)

Oh God my Father I thank You for being a positively jealous God. I am Yours and Yours alone and nobody and nothing is going to come between us Amen.

²⁵ When you have had children and children's children, and become complacent in the land, if you act corruptly by making an idol in the form of anything, thus doing what is evil in the sight of the LORD your God, and provoking him to anger, ²⁶ I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to occupy; you will not live long on it, but will be utterly destroyed.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 25 to 26)

My first reaction to Aaron's declaration was that of sour grapes. Since you will not be crossing you are giving bad wishes to others! However, on reflection Aaron was prophetic in what he was saying because in time Your people did degenerate and experience all that Aaron had prophesied. I pray oh God my Father that we give much weight to the discourse of relevant people because it could be the case that You are using such people to pass on to us important messages for our future Amen.

²⁷ The LORD will scatter you among the peoples; only few of you will be left among the nations where the LORD will lead you.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 27)

Oh God my Father as You controlled the fate of Israel Your chosen people, You are also in control of our story. You know who is to be born and You know who is to be taken away. I pray that we permit You to be our leader now and forever Amen.

²⁸ There you will serve other gods made by human hands, objects of wood and stone that neither see nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 28)

Oh God my Father the one and only, today many brands are becoming gods in their own remain. We are being influenced by the media to buy and buy. There is a need for the economy to improve and we are being compelled in a polite way to make it happen. I pray that this does not become out of hand making of us compulsive consumers with a focus on having more and more Amen.

²⁹ From there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find him if you search after him with all your heart and soul.

(The Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 4 verse 29)

Oh God, my Father I truly believe that if we open our hearts and mind to You, You will come to us and we will find You. However, I pray that it is better if You call on us so that we may follow You. As humans our search may be short term, however if You call us it would leave a print in our hearts and mind and we cannot say no to You Amen.
